After a ‘forced-to-go-with-the-crowd’ engineering degree, some youngsters decided to take their shot and do something that they felt good. Read on to know more about them and their group – Kaali Kuppy Media.
Tell us about your life journey in brief?
We are a group of youngsters who are passionate about cinema. After a ‘forced-to-go-with-the-crowd’ engineering degree, we decided to take our shot and do something that we felt good. And then as we thought more about it, our thoughts finalized to film making. It was the start of the short film wave and we decided to take a ride. So, in 2012 we started our first short film. We wanted it to be different from the rest, but none of us had any experience in this field. But as we proceeded, things began to happen. The right people joined us, and we kind of became a brotherhood. We learned during the process. Learning things the hard way is what made us to be in the present.
What prompted you to start Kaali Kuppy Media?
Our love towards cinema required a platform. This was not a hobby for us; we wanted to make a mark. We needed a something to keep our passion alive. Thus, ‘Kaali Kuppy Media’ was born.
Tell us about your team, if you have?
All those who are part of our work process form our team. There is one captain for everything we do who keeps the things moving for that work.
What is your dream/ vision?
Our dream is to entertain people with quality films without negligence of social commitment and obviously to make it big on the big screen one day.
What difficulties you face in making the videos/ running your group?
Difficulties faced are mainly the challenges in marketing our work, as there are 1000s of works coming up every day. As with any small production house, our biggest difficulty has always been the low budget. Then came the difficulty in getting decent female actors.
Who/ What inspires you or keeps you going?
This time of technology has an amazing platform to show our skills. Although competition is high, we hope our insistence not to compromise on quality will help us achieve our dream. So, the new opportunities that come up are our inspiration.
What are your future plans with respect to your channel/ group?
We have started on our journey to the next goal, i.e. the big screen. Right now, we’re pre-working on a project.
Any fun/ memorable incident?
Our team has got recognition for two works, namely Iyalkkenne Ishttayo and Vandeem Valem at the National level fest held in Bangalore.
What advice you’d like to give to someone who is interested in starting a youtube channel or starting on his own ?
A team who has a better understanding of one another is the prime factor of succeeding as maintaining the YouTube channel and being in the limelight is a run-of-the-mill task.
