Anand Doshi who runs Click Digital Studios which is popular for their youtube channel Shudh Desi Endings. CDS has a subscriber base of 15 million. Read on to know more him and his venture.

Tell us about your life journey in brief?

I started editing some international films and TV shows while completing my Bachelor’s degree from Deakin University, Australia.  After returning to India, I worked in a corporate set up for a few years, and then decided to start a production company called Click Digital Studios India Pvt Ltd with two of my friends. Click Digital Studios creates digital content that garners monthly viewership of 100 million, with a subscriber base of 15 million on YouTube. Having said that, today this makes CDS amongst the top User Generated Content (UGC) producers in the country.

What prompted you to start CDS/ Shudh Desi Ending?

I was managing the digital content catalogue of an established production house and that’s when I realised that there is a vaccum in digital content production that needed to be addressed. Back then, the content was not exclusively produced for the digital platform. We found that a majority of the content was made up of movies that were cut into short clips. That’s when our team decided to venture out independently and launched CDS.

Tell us about your team, if you have?

We view CDS as a content engine – which includes films, TV, and digital content. Our entire team consists of 50 people.  These 50 people make up our writing team, production team, post-production team, animators, and our marketing team.

How many/ what kind of movies have you made?

We have made a Gujarati feature film, “Happy Family Pvt. Ltd” (2013), produced by Monopoly Pictures. This was a comedy movie which had a strong theme of family bonding. In 2014, we produced a television show (comedy sketch/talk show) called “Hirjee Ni Marjee,” starring the talented Vrajesh Hirjee. As for our digital content- one of our most popular shows, “Shudh Desi Endings” consists of weekly spoofs of Hindi films. In addition, we produce approximately 70 videos on a daily basis.


What is your dream/ vision?

We want to make our presence felt across all mediums. Our vision is to provide content that is diverse, innovative, of high quality, and universal.

What difficulties do you face in running CDS?

Every start up venture has its own share of difficulties and challenges. But what matters is how we learn to overcome them by finding appropriate solutions in order to move on to set bigger and better goals.

What advice you’d like to give to someone who is interested/newbee in filmmaking?

I would advise them to pinpoint exactly what they want, identify their audience, and not shift their focus. Every new venture or an idea takes time to be accepted, but focus and the right content will help them achieve their goals.
